Quim Batlle Foranell Pansa Blanca 2016
Winegrower: Quim Batle
Wine region: DO. Alella
Grape varieties:
Pansa Blanca (Xarel.lo)
Wine description:
The pride of Alella, so important that this grape even got its own name, the Pansa Blanca (white raisin). Although it is the same grape as the Xarel.lo, the afternoon sea breeze, the Foranell, and the steep slopes of mineral-rich soils really make it a wine of its own. From the beginning, Quim Batlle has been involved in organic farming and, together with his family, he tries his best to get the best expression by giving the wine time.
A relatively late harvest, done in two parts, ensures that the wine has both good acidity and fruitiness. The grapes are completely fermented in stainless steel where the wine then continues to mature on the fine lees for 9 months. This makes for a wine that is intense yellow gold, with a rich aroma of fennel, orange peel, pickled fruit and freshly cut grass. On the palate, the wine is structured and lively, with a certain freshness, saltiness and minerality.
