Wine from small producers, with a heart for the vineyard, nature and the wines they make. That's what I stand for.

For those who don't know me yet: Kim ten Wolde, born in 1987 in Harderwijk and now living in Haarlem. With a degree in chemical technology, wine is of course not at all in the direction…

So how did I get the idea to do something with wine?

It took me a while to really discover wine. When I was a student, I wasn't too fond of wine. But when I was at a wedding at a winery near Siena in 2010 and discovered the diversity of the wines of only 1 winery, I wanted to know more!

In the years that followed, the interest and knowledge grew little by little, mainly by tasting and comparing a lot, but it was only when I lived in Catalonia for half a year in 2017 that it really clicked. I met Albert, who worked at a wine bar there, and he saw my interest in wine. Immediately afterwards he invited me to join him at the wine fairs in Barcelona and to visit wineries in the area. The diversity of wines, in such a small region... wow! And the typicality of the wine regions within Catalonia alone. Then I knew, I want to know more about this and do something with it.

But 'life happens' and I started a 'normal' job back in the Netherlands in 2018, and wine stayed with a hobby. Until at the end of 2020 I thought 'what is there to lose?'... In the worst case I am left with a pallet full of wine, in the end that will work anyway, there were plenty of friends who always said 'take me a few boxes with you.

Then why wine? It's so beautiful what grapes can do. What the climate can do to it, the environment where the sticks are planted. A piece of nature's magic. The diversity of grapes, vineyard management, winemaking methods.

And that is exactly what I try to represent in my portfolio. A selection of wineries that work with nature. Not necessarily natural wine, but wine that has been responsibly made with as few interventions by the winemaker as possible.
